Again, next to the above two restaurants and perfect for lunch. Freshly cooked. Main courses around €5. This is a family run restaurant with a good atmosphere.

Drive under the aquaduct in Óbidos and head up for about 2km. The Traçadinho is the first restaurant you see on the left. You enter into the café to go to the restaurant tables. Food excellent with great use of fresh herbs, garlic and even chanterelle mushrooms! Owner and daughter very friendly, good basic english, fluent french. Main courses around €9 and well worth it. Homemade puddings too.

One of the best restaurants around with a wide range of traditional dishes like 'Cataplana' - a large dish of every fish and shellfish you can imagine. Excellent also for large parties where the service is seamless and discrete. Booking recommended especially at weekends. 3km outside Caldas in Alto Da Nobre. From A8 take Exit 19 to Foz Do Arelho (old Caldas to Foz road). Turn right when you see the 'A Lareira' sign about 1km past the Galp petrol station.

Large restaurant with great service and most of the staff speak english. English menus also available. Great fish or meat dishes served with homemade chips, rice or boiled potatoes and fresh veg or salads. Great size portions so if you're hungry you'll be happy. They happily allow you to share portions between two. In Salir Do Porto at the roundabout head towards Caldas and cross the railway-line level crossing. The restaurant is on your right about 300m after the railway line. Good with large bookings too.

This restaurant cooks your meal on an inside open fire and basically tries to stuff you so full that Desperate Dan can just about manage! What they 'lack' in "style and finesse" they make up for in the huge platters of pork and beef with beans and rice. You'll find yourself quite happily perched on a tiny cow-milking stool in a restaurant which started in the owners front room! They then added barns and sheds to cope with the customers. Rustic and quirky it may be but this place is always full and you definitely NEED to book! In the winter ask for a table by the fire. In the summer hope for a table elsewhere!

Again this is a very busy restaurant especially on Sunday lunchtimes when the parking can be a nightmare! Don't be put off when you walk into the café-bar - just head straight through to the restaurant. English speaking staff. Huge beefsteaks & pork steaks & chicken dishes.

Lots of traditional dishes, pork, terracotta jug full of with chicken pieces. Average dish price around €9. From the seafront at Sao Martinho follow the sign to the 'Cais' (on the left after the police station) and drive past the veg market (on your left) for 50m then turn right towards Serra dos Mangos. Then turn right into Rua Manuel Francisco Clérigo. The restaurant is half way down this road on your right.

This restaurant is right in the village of Nadadouro. Coming in from Caldas go past the church and turn first right then drive 50m up the hill. They serve lovely BBQ'd salmon steaks but don't be surprised if your main courses arrive at different times - just dig in and share what's there until your meal arrives!
